Whitney Houston and Dana Bash
Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963 to a musically inclined family in Newark New Jersey is the daughter of the gospel singers Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. They are also cousins of the singer Dionne Warwick. As a young girl, Houston started performing professionally in the choir of her church. She was a backing vocalist for Chaka Khosns 1978 single Im Every Woman with her mother. She then went on to sing backing vocals with Jermaine, Lou Rawls, and even her mother. The high quality of her performance as the featured vocalist of New York funk group Material attracted the attention of several major record labels, including Arista, with which she was signed in 1982, and continued to work for the remainder of her life. In 1985, the debut of Whitney Houston became one of the most successful debut albums ever. Tracks like the title track, The Most Beautiful Love of All, How Will I Know If You Give Good Love, and Saving all My Love were all released on the album. These songs allowed Houston to reach the seven US top tens, which surpassed even those of The Beatles. The album sold US 3,000,000 copies and then reached 25,000,000 copies globally. This brought her first of her six Grammy Awards. The Whitney album followed in 1987 and the singles Where Do Broken Hearts GO and I Wanna Dance With Somebody helped to expand on the popularity of her first album. It was, however it was the 1992 film The Bodyguard that solidified her position as one of the world's most well-known artist. Even though the movie and actress' performance were not highly praised, the soundtrack album with her version of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You was her most popular single and albums for many months. It sold more than 44 million copies across the globe. In the same year, she married Bobby Brown who was a ex- New Edition singer. She had their sole daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown together on March 23, 1993. At this point, her documented drug use started and in 1996, the singer used to use drugs every day.
Dana Bash (also known as Dana Ruth Schwartz) is a CNN anchorwoman and reporter for the political section of CNN. The shows she hosts on weekends comprise Evans & Novak Late Edition, Inside Politics and Inside Politics. Bash received a Women in Washington Power List award from Elle magazine.
